Hinton 7-12

7-12 August Newsletter

Welcome back, Blackhawks!

Hello, Blackhawks! We are eager to have you back in the building and are excited to get the 2024-2025 school year underway. We are just over a week away from the first day and with that here is some information that may be helpful as we get ready to kick things off!

Introduction:

My name is Noah Phillips and I have the privilege of being the new 7-12 principal at Hinton. This will be my 9th year in education (5 in the classroom, 4 in administration). I grew up in Montana and then attended Montana State University. After graduating from MSU, I taught for two years in Bozeman, Montana. I then moved to Iowa and have spent the last six years at River Valley. At River Valley I spent time serving as 4th/5th grade math teacher, a MS social studies teacher, elementary principal, MS/HS principal, head football coach, assistant boys basketball coach, and activities director. I am beyond blessed to be starting here at Hinton and look forward to building relationships with students and families! My wife, three daughters, and I are excited to be Blackhawks! Feel free to reach out to me by calling our office (712-947-4328), by emailing me at noah.phillips@hintonschool.com, or feel free to stop by and see me in my office! Excited to be a part of a great school year here at Hinton!

Move In Day (Calling All Students!)

Time: Tomorrow, August 15. Please arrive at 8:00 AM for a brief organizational meeting and start approx 8:30 AM we will work until completion. We hope to be done with the majority of the work by lunchtime, but it depends on how many people are able to help.

Location: Meet in the Wellness Center

We are calling on all students from grades 9 through 12 to lend a hand. Your help in moving furniture, organizing classrooms, setting up common areas, and preparing our school for the new academic year will make a significant difference. And to show our appreciation, we will be providing pizza and refreshments for all volunteers!

Open House

We will be having our open house next week on Wednesday, August 21 from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. This will be a great opportunity to get back in the building and view the updates in our building project, meet teachers, counselors, and administration, as well as picking up class schedules for the fall semester!
