This summer, we have a major construction project that will improve the HVAC systems of most of the Middle School/High School. This includes hot water control improvement, asbestos abatement, new flooring, casework, ceilings, lighting, and electrical distribution. The project is funded through SAVE funds and is phase one of our long-term facilities plan.
The project is under a tight time frame for this summer and will require much to be moved this week so they can start on time on Tuesday. The football team is coming in to help, and we are also asking high school students to be available, along with the 4th - 8th graders, to help move items. We have many carts to make the work easier, and students will not be responsible for moving heavy items. This is an ALL-IN approach, and we thank our students in advance. We encourage teachers and coaches to challenge their team members to come in and help out. This move will directly benefit all staff and students of Hinton into the future. #BlackhawkUp #BlackhawkPride
Noah Phillips was hired to be the 7th - 12th Principal. He comes to us from River Valley after serving as the 6th - 12th Principal. Mr. Phillips's experience working on multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and supporting Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) will benefit Hinton as we continue to work on those initiatives here.
Phillips completed his undergraduate coursework at Montana State University and then earned his Master of Education in School Leadership from Dordt University. He served as a middle school social studies teacher and PK-5 principal before his current position. Mr. Phillips is married to Christy, who has been married for five years. Together, they have three girls. Everly (age 3), Penny (age 1), and Hazel (4 months)
It is an honor and blessing to join the staff at Hinton this coming school year. I am greatly excited about the opportunity to serve the students, families, and staff of Hinton Schools. I am eager to encourage and challenge Hinton JH/HS students to achieve great things this school year! WATCH US SOAR!
Tony Napierala was hired as the new 4th-6th Principal and Activities Director. Mr. Napierala comes to us from OABCIG where he has been a PE Teacher and Coach for the last six years. Tony has been involved in activities as an educator the most of his career.
Napierala is a proud father of 4 boys. His oldest son is a doctor in Hawaii, the second oldest is an aerospace engineer in Kansas City, one that just graduated and will attend UMKC next fall in Kansas City and a senior next fall.
"I am truly excited about the opportunity to join the Hinton School family. Growing up and living in NW Iowa most of my life I know of the great reputation that Hinton has academically and the success that the school and community has had in all their activities. I can't wait to work with the students and staff in Hinton. I am looking forward to being a part of that wonderful tradition. GO BLACKHAWKS"
