Referendum Review and Next Steps

We extend our genuine gratitude to everyone who engaged in the critical process of the November referendums. Your active participation in educating yourself and casting your vote demonstrated a commitment to shaping the future of our schools. While we acknowledge the outcomes weren’t as anticipated, your dedication to this vital process is sincerely appreciated.

We came up short with the recent referendums, specifically those concerning capital bonding for school improvements and the extension of PPEL funding for an additional ten years, as these did not garner the support needed for passage. However, one positive outcome was the successful passing of increased Voted-PPEL funding for the next two years. This signifies a shared understanding of the importance of supporting our schools.

Understanding that our district's needs to fix and update our facilities persist, we recognize the necessity to address these needs through a shared vision. Our schools must genuinely reflect our community's value and commitment to our students and their education and growth. As we move forward, we will focus on actively listening to your concerns and ideas and exploring viable solutions together. In the coming months, starting in January, the school district will begin a process to engage further with the community.

We plan to conduct a community-wide survey and schedule listening sessions to seek valuable insights from our residents. This will provide a platform to gather in-depth information about your perspectives on the previous referendums and potential future initiatives.

Your input is invaluable as we navigate the path ahead. Rest assured, no decisions have been made yet about the future. We are committed to considering various options available to address our pressing needs, including the possibility of another referendum at some point in the future.

This collaborative approach emphasizes our dedication to transparency, accountability, and responsiveness to the community’s expectations for our schools. We aim to ensure that your voices are heard and that we make informed decisions that benefit our students, staff, and community.

We encourage continued engagement and dialogue as we embark on this journey together. Together, we will shape a bright future for our students.

Again, Thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to our district's growth and prosperity.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

I'd like to remind you how we will announce weather-related delays, dismissals, and cancellations.

TV Stations

  • KTIV Channel 4

  • KCAU Channel 9

Generally, I decide by 6:00 am whether there will be a delay or cancellation. Conditions may occur where it could be called after those times but before the buses roll.

Please remember that parents and guardians can keep their children home if there is inclement weather. Especially for your teen drivers if you feel the conditions are worse in your area. Erroring on the side of caution is understandable. I want to decide on before-school activities the night before if bad weather is forecasted or by 5:30 am if something develops. Unfortunately, Mother Nature doesn't always cooperate before we can notify students not to come in for their activity.

Calendar Update

For your planning purposes, we will make up one of our missed school days for the state volleyball tournament on Friday, February 16.

Dead Week!

The high school teams are currently on a seven-day dead week. No team practices or team workouts for seven days from the day of their last practice.

Wellness Center

Membership reminder:

All participants are required to use their key fob to gain access to the wellness center.

Allowing people into the facility who are not members will result in the deactivation of the fob.

Adult supervision by the registered key fob holder is required for all students/children in the center.

Thank You

Support for MMCRU

The picture below shows we had an excellent turnout for the game versus MMCRU, and our fans supported their community on the tragic loss of their student, Boston Colling, by wearing blue.
