Leader in Me

Welcome to Leader In Me at Hinton CSD

Each new school year brings opportunities for academic growth and growth in all areas of development. Although children must be knowledgeable when they graduate, they must also be healthy, engaged, responsible, and caring people.

We’re grateful you’re here at Hinton CSD and we’re excited to partner with you and your child. As a Leader in Me School District, we believe that every member of your family has greatness and we can’t wait to learn and grow from you! Leader in Me (LiM) is an evidence-based, comprehensive school-improvement model—developed in partnership with educators and FranklinCovey—that empowers students with the leadership and life skills they need to thrive in a global community.

Hinton has chosen to operate through a uniquely different lens. Leader in Me is about empowering your child to reach their full potential while ultimately finding their voice. As a school, the staff in our buildings have made five core commitments to your child. We call these our Core Paradigms. In these paradigms you will find the belief and way we view all students. At Hinton, we see that:

Everyone is a leader.

Everyone has genius.

Change starts with me.

We empower students to lead their own learning.

Educators and families partner to develop the whole person.

Not only do these paradigms apply to your student, they apply to all of us!

Leader in Me provides our school with the vision and language to lead the school in a way that addresses all areas of development. As each child discovers and develops their unique gifts and talents, they are given opportunities to lead. As leaders, they become active, engaged partners in their own education, and their self-confidence, responsibility, and initiative grow. The children quickly understand the benefits of different gifts and talents; they learn to listen to new ideas, work together to achieve results, and motivate one another to be the best.

Together, we will see each child grow throughout the year.

New School Communication System

We have implemented a new communication system for our school notifications, alerts, emails, texting, and voice calls called BrightArrow, as our old system, SwiftKReach, is no longer offered by its parent company. BrightArrow's new features include adding contacts besides students' parents or guardians for our newsletters. To facilitate this, I am linking a form with this article so people can add members of their family or friends who may like to receive our newsletter. Additionally, the newsletter will be available to community members without children in school.

Habit of the Month

Each district newsletter will feature one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. We will include information on the habit and some activities parents can do with their children. The activities are pretty general, but they help provide the basic information and offer families the opportunity to reinforce the habits. We are all in this together.

Habit #1 - BE PROACTIVE

Being proactive empowers us with the principles of responsibility, choice, accountability, initiative, and resourcefulness. Below are some activities that families can take to reflect with their children.

Outdoor Sports Complex - Cart Trail Fee

Last year, we introduced a trail fee for spectators who wish to park their recreational vehicles at our outdoor sports complex and watch games. The trail fee sticker costs $50 for the entire year.

The revenue generated from the trail fee stickers will be utilized for future facility enhancements, including an improved sound system, fencing, and additional irrigation. The improvements we implemented last year have already enhanced the area.

Mr. Slater will be available again at this Friday's game on September 6th to gather information and collect the fee from those who have not paid yet. We kindly request that the fee be paid by the second game on September 6.
